15/5/1939.

Catherine came over on Saturday and we went over to Taplow. It was gloriously fine so we punted on the Thames as far as Clevedon Woods. Now I am as brown as a ??? ??? the open air. Yesterday was a very busy day for us because we kept it as Empire Day. We had Charlewood, the Chaplain to the Bishop of London to preach and a ?? line. ??? to inspect the scouts and guides. Thanks for the letter. Love R.
