Helmet in case of stray shrapnel pellets coming our way for I think we ought to go back to the olden day time and wear steel armour. I had a letter from Bert today but got no hope of seeing him. ... It just took for his letter to reach me. I am enclosing a letter and card for little Jimmy so send it one please. Although it only 10 day since I got your card, but yet ... mail has been in and it make me very lonely to see them reading theirs and I am all alone. So I will say Au Revoir with ever best love and wishes to my dear wife from her true husband.
