France.

Dear Arthur,

Just a few lines to let you see that I am still A1 and able to take a little nourishment. At present I am camped in a dug out on banks of S and we go fishing, not with a line but a nice Mills Bomb which is a quick way of getting them. We have had a big go with Fritz and make him gallop back many miles. Fritz and his gas is not too good, very uncomfortable to fight in mask but we do it and smile after. Fritz is getting a hell of a hiding on 86 mile front and we are all together now. Thousands of guns and machines guns been captured, every man in .... has automatic revolvers from .... prisoners and .... and all sorts of carriers. Bill Baker is with 1st Corp., not far from here but I haven't seen him in France. He is keeping A1 as far as I know. I notice sport is good at port. I will have a long spell there if have luck to get back. I feel a few fish ... would be alright. And I will have them later on. Remember me ... Jack Wilson and neighbors hope poor old Liz is better. Could keep a pint down now.

Au Revoir.

Ted.
